WHY DO WE DO IT?
We want to erradicate the avoidable and curable blindness, to strengthen the educational capacities of the teachers in the most disadvantaged countries of the Sub-Saharan Africa.
There are 7.3 billion people living in the world
253 million suffer from visual impairment
El 75% of these cases are curable or avoidable
el 89% live in low- or median-income countries
y el 55% are women or girls
and 2.2 billion problems of near vision
y el 50% of these people do not see simply due to a lack of glasses
The lack of visual health professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa causes that still today children die from visual illnesses, something unthinkable in our Western world for more than a century. Observe and assess whether there are enough professionals who practice in each country where we cooperate:
